It hasn?t taken Heath Miller long to make an impact for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The former Honaker High School star caught four passes for 72 yards on Sunday for the Steelers in their 23-17 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Miller, a rookie tight end, hauled in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Tommy Maddox in the second quarter and led the Steelers in receiving. It was the first time a tight end had led Pittsburgh in receiving in a game since Eric Green in 1994.

"I made a few catches. But I can?t be satisfied," Miller told the Beaver County (Pa.) Times. "Anytime you lose a game like this, it?s hard to swallow."

Miller is becoming an integral part of Pittsburgh?s offense. His big performance Sunday came six days after he caught four passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in Pittsburgh?s win over the San Diego Chargers on Monday Night Football.

Honaker head football coach Doug Hubbard, who coached Miller from 1997-2001, has kept a close eye on Miller?s progress.

"We?re very proud of him," said Hubbard last Friday, after leading the Tigers to a 27-21 win over Virginia High. "He?s a wonderful young man that has been blessed. The kids at school look up to him and talk to him. It just shows that if you work hard good things will happen. We?re just extremely proud of him."

The Steelers (3-2) will travel to Cincinnati this Sunday in a key game. Miller expects to play a big part.

"I?ve had confidence all along," Miller told the Beaver County (Pa.) Times. "that the tight ends would have opportunities to make plays at some point in time. I?m pretty comfortable (in our offense), but every week, something new comes up. So I?m learning on the fly and just trying to go out each week and get better."

I don't see any receiver doing well with Tommy Maddox at QB. He is horrible. Get Roethlisburger back in and I think Miller will be able to do a lot more.

Think he will be playing as of this morning on Sportcenter so we will see, defintily pulling for him. I have never heard anything about the kid that was bad so good luck to him and hope he succeeds.

The worst thing I have ever heard about Roethlisberger is that he doesn't wear a helmet when he rides his Harley. I think it would be cool if he wore his Steeler helmet while he was riding.

I heard one bad rumor about Heath Miller...I haven't verified the source but its being said that he is from Honaker or at least the surrounding area...thats some pretty bad publicity to have circulating around in my estimation... [img]smile.gif[/img]

well that rumor is true ,this guy is really a big influence on all these kids over here and he is exceptional person .heath comes around to our little league games and he just dont want to get a bunch of attention is what ive heard so for the most part hes just another fan in the stands .just a great guy .
